Construction materials, resources
The ETH Materials Hub (MATHUB), a cooperative project between the Department of Architecture and the ETH Library, is ETH Zurich’s materials platform for research and teaching. Here you will find material samples that are relevant for design and construction, supplemented by an external page online material database.
The MATHUB complements the other media resources of the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library, that is, specialist literature, journals, films, etc.

Holdings
- The ETH Materials Hub contains over 2,000 material samples and is constantly being expanded.
- Here you can choose from materials made of clay, ceramics, glass, metal, stone, plaster, lime, cement, bitumen, plastic or wood in a wide variety of machining forms.
- You will also find sample specimens from teaching and research.
Online database
An extensive online database provides information on the origin, processing and production, technical properties and cultural science background of the various materials.
In cooperation with the Material Archive network, the database is being continuously expanded to include new entries.
